(Press release on presidential election in Algeria by the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of the Russian Federation)

On December 12, a presidential election took place in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

According to the data published by the country’s National Electoral Commission, independent candidate and former Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune has won the election with 58.15 percent of the vote.

We consider the holding of this important domestic political event a significant step towards ensuring the progressive development of friendly Algeria.

We hope that with the election of the new leader of the Algerian state the multifaceted relations between Russia and Algeria will continue to improve and expand.
